April 9, 2025 Abbot Principal Update

Dear Abbot Staff and Community,

We are pleased to announce Mr. Stephan Hogan has been appointed the new Principal of Abbot Elementary School.

Mr. Hogan has worked in the Ann Arbor Public Schools (AAPS) since 2016. He started his career at Tappan Middle School as a mathematics teacher. In addition to teaching, he led the department teaching and learning network and was a grade-level team leader. In 2021, Mr. Hogan continued his leadership journey and became an Assistant Principal at Tappan Middle School. Also, he served as the Middle School Summer Challenge principal for several years. Mr. Hogan has eight total years in public education in the AAPS. Most recently, he served as the Interim Principal at Abbot Elementary this school year.

Mr. Hogan holds a Bachelor of Science in Mathematics and a Master of Educational Leadership from Eastern Michigan University.

Mr. Hogan writes, “I’m incredibly honored and excited to continue serving the Abbot community as the permanent principal! Abbot is an incredible community filled with amazing students, dedicated staff, and supportive families—and I’m proud to be part of it. I look forward to building on the great work we’ve started together and continuing to make Abbot a place where every child feels seen, supported, and inspired to grow!”

We extend a special thank you to the teachers, staff, parents and community members who served on the interview team during the interview selection process. We are grateful for Mr. Hogan’s leadership this school year and we are excited to welcome him as the permanent principal for the Abbot Elementary School community.
